After lunch Julie dropped me off in the center of town. It was raining and the tourist center did not open for another 10 minutes. I waited with my umbrella and then headed in. I found out where my bank was located to get some money and what was opened to go into today. It is Monday so the museums are closed, but it is raining, something has to be opened! The lady told me the hospital where Van Gogh (pronounced gog in France) was since he was crazy was opened. I thanked the lady for her help and headed out into the rain.
I got everything situated with the bank and then walked back to the tourist information place and past it to get to the hospital. I walked a very long time without finding the hospital. I decided to take a side tour of the cemetery. I could not find that either so I followed signs for a garden. Turns out it was a living community and not a real garden. I enjoyed my walk then headed back to the main street, on the way I ran into the cemetery which was HUGE! I went all through it and was happy that it had stopped raining. In France it is very common to see tombs for entire families. It is hard to know who is in it as many do not have the names written on the tomb and they are just labeled on different plaques that are left behind.
I made my way out of the cemetery and was back at the center of town (I cannot believe how long the cemetery was!). I decided to walk around some of the shops in town, they are so cute! My sister mentioned liking ne of my pictures of the cicadas so I was in search of one for her. I found a couple but they were ugly and so I did not get her any. There was a cute ceramics shop but how the heck would I get any of these items back to the USA? I figured an oil bottle would be the best. I found many but did not buy any, I will save that for another day. My favorite store was a salt store; they had salts from around the world and a salt for almost any dish that you were making, pizza, spaghetti, paella, etc etc. If you are in St. Remy, check this place out if you like to cook it is awesome.
I headed to the church where I filled out some postcards and then sat outside for Julie to come pick me up as she was finished with work for the day.
