After turning something that should have taken 30-45 mins into 1.5 hours I decided I had to get out of there. I walked to the street and saw a riquety sign for Van Gogh’s cloister. I knew it was nearby but not that nearby….I decided to take the path though as I did not want to walk on the main street, too many cars and too much noise!
It took me to a couple of things that looked like remains of something. I actually walked right into the hospital where Van Gogh stayed, without even looking for it! I decided it was meant to be and went for it. There were so many things to read as the site was very very small. I looked at the gardens and the room Van Gogh stayed in. He submitted himself to a mental hospital. Epilepsy ran on his mother’s side and depression on his father. He suffered from fits of epileptic fits, manic fits, and depression. He self mutilated himself many times, including the time that he cut off his ear. He had visual and audio hallucinations which may be due to the cutting of his ear. He headed to meet his brother and sister in law and about one month later he killed himself in a wheat field.
That was a sum up of what I learned and now you have it. The End.
