After we headed back to St. Remy and parked the car on the street. They said that we were going to see the bulls and I felt bad saying I had already been to the bull ring. Well this was no bull ring. The streets were gated off and I realized right away this was the running of the bulls. I could not see anything and neither could my friends so we headed through the gate to the street. I did not want to stand on the street, but there was no room on the stone fence so we stood in the street.
The first bull went and there were horses in front of it and I think on the sides. People were running next to it holding onto the horns. It was pretty lame, one bull at a time, surrounded by horses! Patrick asked if I wanted to run with the bulls and I said no, but then I thought about it…when else am I going to have this opportunity, not just to do it but to do it when I am able! I do not have to hold onto the horns or touch the thing, I could do one of those run next to it for a second and have someone snap a picture while I have an overly excited running face on…
The next bull was coming and I began my videotaping, everyone was getting out of my way and I realized it was because the bull was coming at us. I baked up and then saw the bull real up close and personal. The people who were running with the bull and were holding the horns, were trying to direct the bull away from the crowd at this point I ran toward the stone fence and jumped up, the old lady who was standing there moved over to make room and pulled me up. What the heck was I thinking, running anywhere near one of those guys, I was crazy for just thinking about it!!
The lady told me to be careful about a hundred times over and I thanked her and found Julie and Patrick. They had run to the gate to get out but the old women who were at the gate told them “you wanted to be in there, you stay there.” I told them they chose the wrong way but was really happy that they were okay since they were not being let out (I cannot believe that!). We all decided to head out of the street. Since we could not see anything we headed back into town where the fete was going on. We walked through, it was filled with little kids and the we headed home, what a day!
