The Views

When Julie picked me up I figured that we were headed home, how wrong I was! She was all about showing me around. When I told her we did not have to stay in town (I could explore on my own)she decided to take me to a couple of places with nice views of the city.

We drove to one spot that had a lot of trailers around it. She seemed uneasy about leaving the car but we wound up getting out. She said that there were lots of gypsies in these parts and she did not want anything to happen to her car. She said nothing was in her car though so we could go. We walked for about one minute and a man and his little boy walked past us in the opposite direction. Julie saw they were near the car and freaked out so we headed back. There was no reason for her to be nervous – we could just skip this place. It turns out the guy was just getting into his car, which was parked next to ours. We got a couple of photos in and past by some chickens and then headed to another spot.

We wound up at a park and began to walk. I did not think it would be much of a walk as Julie was in her work clothes, but I was wrong. We hiked up hill for about 30 minutes and got some wonderful views of St. Remy, the Allpins and even the sea (it was that clear out at this point). We had a wonderful conversation and have a lot in common. It was getting late, so we headed back.

When we got back Julie and Patrice were going to make rice with leeks. Leeks are okay but not a lot of them…I was not sure about how they would prepare them and they said forget it and decided to make some cordon bleu instead. As dinner was cooking Patrice put in Julie’s new SIM card and said in perfect English “ Yes, I am the best” and “I am so good.” It made me laugh. We enjoyed dinner and then Julie spent an hour showing me all of the places that she has traveled in the last couple of years. I headed up to bed around 11-11:30.
