I enjoyed the menthol steam sauna and just stayed around the spa all day. Around 2 I decided to head upstairs to shower and get dressed so that I could walk around town a bit (it was clearing up). When I got into the room I went to turn on a light, nothing. Tried another switch, nothing. I guess it did not matter if I was going to just shower... I went into the bathroom - I needed the lights to shower. After about 10 minutes I had the guts to hit the switch that I thought would call the bell hop...it really just was the main switch that turned on all of the other switches.
After I showered Justin walked in. We were going to meet up with Robert for dinner around 6 and so we had some time to kill. Justin napped and I organized my stuff some more. At 6 we headed out to find some food. We went back to the Italian restaurant that was recommended to us, but was closed previously; it was closed again. The sign on the door said it will open back up in two days.
I was starving and Robert was tired so we went back to where we ate last night. It was very crowded as the rain was keeping people from sitting outside. One of the things that I really like about German restarants is that since it is so cold outside, they make it toasty warm inside. You go in and take off your jacket and its just nice. I cannot tell you the number of places in NJ when you go inside and it is still cold and you cannot talk yourself into taking off your jacket. Then you go back outside and freeze your tail off!
I ordered roast beef with a giant matzah ball of potato, Robert got what Justin had yesterday and Justin ordered fish. We all enjoyed what we had. I have decided to go with ordering bubble water in Germany as the still water is bubbly and tastes horrible! For dessert, Robert ordered the fried apple rings again and Justin went with three scoops of vanilla ice cream with warm fruit. While we waited we were trying to figure out what kind of warm fruit we would get. I said apples, strawberries and maybe peaches. Justin said apples and plums. We got a bowl with three scoops of vanilla ice cream and a gravy boat with what looked like jam...raspberry jam. I thought strawberries might be in there too, the waiter said it was cranberries (definitely had raspberries in it as well). Even though I was very full from my dinner, I could not help but to take a couple of spoonfuls of the dessert. It was tart and just very different than what I was expecting.
We got back to the hotel and Justin headed down for an hour of swim time in the pool.
