Exploring Solo

After I left Nicole I decided I should get used to the streets a bit on my own. Up until this point, I really just followed her and did not look at the streets or my map. I made my way to the streets I had walked many times before and found the unfinished building Micheal Angelo was planning to finish but did not. The tour guide said that it was beautiful and so I went straight up to it...it was about 10euro! I decided to pass for now and check out the finished library that he was the "interior designer" for...that was about 10 euro too!

Now don't get me wrong, I think Florence is beautiful! The food is wonderful and very well priced, but I have some issues... first off, the people are RUDE! I always think of Italians as super nice and friendly, wrong! Ever since the train I have encountered multiple rude people. I asked Nicole and she said she noticed the same thing. I was so surprised as I just came from France, which known for snobby people and I remember not one (not saying there were none, just that I remember none). Next, what is the deal with making me pay for EVERYTHING! Every church I have passed, the library, even the parks make me pay! I will go broke here in no time if I went to see all of these places. I guess I have to go on what I am most interested in...and what people say is the best since I really have no idea what is here...

Anyway, I skipped the library too and kept going. I found the boar fountain that we past on the tour and that Christian Hanz Anderson was inspired for Little Piggy. Nobody was around now, so I got a couple of nice shots of the pig. I made my way to the old bridge and crossed it. I found a huge building which I later found out has a huge garden behind it. The sun was setting and the building was closing so I decided to come back another day.

I headed in the direction of the hostel with one thing on my mind...food (what else?) Most of the places looked a bit too nice for what I was wearing and some of the places I did not feel right sitting alone (in France I almost never felt this way, it is funny how cultures are so close and yet so different). I wound up returning to "golden balls" for a quiet dinner.

I got brucetta and homemade pepperdale with porcini mushrooms. The food was again, amazing! This has got to me one of my favorite spots! The fact that it is so close to the hostel is awesome too (I did not mind walking the < block back when it was dark out). Along the way home there were cops who were having issues with some people, I was glad I could walk right through.

I got back to the hostel and realized my converter could work with the bathroom plug. I plugged it in, happy to have access again.
