The Incident

When I had finished taking lots of pictures and a video, I got to the end of the tunnel and again headed to Parco di Villa il Ventagio. I past a bakery a picked up a mini pizza and tart with fruit on it (only cost me about 2,80). I thought that I had missed the first road to get to the park, as not all of the streets on the map are labeled (the really small ones), but it turns out I did not miss anything and I was right on track. I trekked up the hill and got to the park. Before really getting into it, I sat down and munched on my snack. The pizza was very good but the crust was like pastry dough. The tart was delicious and after a minute I headed into the park.

I would like to tell you that this “park” is like climbing a really easy mountain in New Mexico. It had switchbacks. I got to switchback #2.5 and then stopped. I did not know where I would end up, if anything was up there or how long it would be. I decided to take a little snooze and then I headed back down.

As I was walking back, I saw a lot of commotion so I stopped to look. Some guy was climbing out of a window onto the ledge. I thought it was a movie at first but then realized it was not. The guy could not walk safely on the ledge as there were pins there to keep the birds from nesting there. After trying to climb up the shutter and failing he realized he could just kick the pins off of the sill. He did that and walked a bit. Then the fire truck ladder was getting closer and the guy had nowhere to go so he went on the metal electric ladder thing. As they were pulling the ladder back to the truck, the man jumped down onto a canvas roof of a little overhang thing. I thought he was going to fall through but he just hopped around, stumbling on the metal that held the frame up and he kept running from one side to the other to avoid the firemen getting him. The thing was not small so they put two real ladders on the thing and he tried to pull one up but was unable to. After watching it for this long I was done and kept walking.

I found a little restaurant and stopped. I have no idea what the menu said and other than fettuccini and spaghetti and gnocchi, I really could not tell what the heck there was to order. I got some bruschetta and gnocchi. The bruschetta bread was a bit overdone but there was mozzarella cheese on it which was different. Then my gnocchi came out. I was not too hungry at this point but felt I needed to eat it. It was in a tomato sauce with … stuff in it. Some kind of chopped up meat. It grossed me out and I could only get half of it down before I gave up.

After lunch I decided to only stop at one more place and went to Piazza Donatello, which had lots of old Italians just sitting around and continued on to the hostel. It was a pretty nice day but I was exhausted and my legs were killing me and my feet hurt. I also past an arcade room near my hostel with pool tables and other such things, if I had some roommates that I was hanging out with, I would have totally gone there.

PS – Of course I found churches, it is Italy! I found one that was so bare inside I felt it needed a picture! The rest were in service and so I did not enter to just look around.
