Now, I do not know if one who is not great teaching one who knows nothing is good, but that is what happened. First, Justin learned and practiced changing gears and then we went to find a safe road.
Even though this is a small town, it is pretty crowded with bike riders and pedestrians as it is a spa town. It scared me and I know it scared Justin that Robert told him to start driving on a main road. Justin practiced and made it to a winding road. Not the best place to play with switching gears it is a two lane road that is wide enough for one car and has bike riders on it...I closed my eyes a couple of times.
Justin did great though and Robert wanted to made it harder. He told Justin to find a place to park to start working on his park to first gear. Instead of staying in the less crowded place where we were, we headed back into the heart of town. We got to a hill and Justin had problems getting up it. Go, stall, restart, peel out, stall, restart peel out. Aside of the smell of burning rubber and nasty looks from people walking by, a car pulled up behind up. I did a little prayer that we did not roll back and hit them as we were rolling all the way down the hill and working our way up each time we started the car. Some how Justin did it and we were off to find a parking spot.
We pulled into a place that made you put your credit card in first, so we needed to leave that spot. This means that we needed to back up. Justin did great though and we found a new place to park with no problem. We parked and got out.
It was way early but they were off to find dinner(it was not even 5). We found a place and sat down. The waitress said that they do not serve until 6 and the guys decided to order beer in the mean time. Robert misread his watch and thought it was a few minutes until 6 but it was a few minutes until 5. He was not too happy about having to wait although it is quite common to have a closed kitchen between lunch and dinner in Europe.
I ordered water, still water to be exact excited to have some flat water. It got it and there were tiny bubbles in the bottle and the water was NASTY! It is mineral water, but I have been drinking mineral water since I have been in Europe. I forced myself to finish the bottle making a note to myself to just get the big bubbles from now on (they mask the nasty taste!).
About 30 minutes later the waitress brought us our menus saying that we could begin to order. It took us about 15 minutes to figure out what we were bold enough to try and order. I got spatzle, Justin got curry with what appeared to be chicken and Robert got beef. It was an okay meal. Justin and I split an apple strudel, the normal kind. Now when I say we split, I mean I basically ate the whole thing :) It was yummy!
We got back tot he hotel and Justin and I headed for the pool. We did a salt water swim, a hot pool swim and then the sauna. Since it was late in the night we enjoyed the rooms to ourselves. There was a steam one with mint and one with lemon. There was a dry one that was cold after being in the others and then a warmer dry one and a dry one that was hot with rocks and hay. I cannot stand that type of heat - but it was a great way to end the night.
