I got up and ate the breakfast in which the hostel prepared. I have to say, this hostel has staying here, down to a T. Everything is so smooth and just what you need. Anyway, I got my bacon and eggs and enjoyed a pretty quite meal. My roommates joined me and we made a semi-legit plan for the day, starting with the free tour the hostel provides.
Two of my roommates went on it yesterday but they thought that this one was different and it was. It was a great tour that took us to many of the hot spots in town. It was a great introduction to the city and really gave me a lot of background. (some of which I shared with you earlier). We saw a building that was not finished and one that was. I learned that many of the buildings have green and white marble since it was easy to get. I learned that the Duomo had a second church to allow those who were not baptized in to pray. Everything that she shared was so interesting but I feel like I am confusing a lot of the dates and times and people so I will leave those off (sorry I know you want to know that stuff!)
We passed on the opportunity to try the local dish, a tripe sandwich where even the bread is soaked in the juices of the fish...we did all stop at a local gelato place that makes their own. I got statachelo and fig - the fig was out of this world.
After the tour I headed back to the hostel to help Nicole move to her new hostel.
