Osteria Isanti

I left the Baptistry and headed to St. Mary Cathedral which was pretty big and very nice. There were lots of paintings and the ceiling had golden paint all over it. Although it was very nice, again, I was not so impressed (I'm sorry!). I had been in Pisa for a few hours and decided I should get something to eat before heading back.

I bought a postcard along the way to the train and asked the lady a good place to eat. Now I know, you are thinking, how did she ask that?! Well this is how... I put my fingers to my lips and kissed them and then said mange. The lady said right Isanti. I thanked her and walked and walked and walked. I thought I was supposed to walk down the following right and gave up hope. I was looking for someone else to ask where to eat when I ran into Osteria Isanti!

I decided to try the Tuscan bread with pates and toppings. I tried the mush one first, I am sure that was some kind of liver, but it was not good or horrible and I ate the whole thing. I tried the chopped one next. It smelled so familiar but I could not get what it was, I took a bite and realized it was olives, it was acceptable. I went for the one that looked and smelled like mushrooms; it was. I have to say though that the texture was so disgusting, it was like eating slugs or something. I am glad I could identify that one so that I could eat it! Then I went to the green one. I have no idea what it was. Then the bruchetta, yummy yummy!

I ordered gnocchi with tomato and mozzarella because I did not know what to get and the waiter said that he recommended that since it was homemade. It was so good I cannot put it into words. I was delighted.

Lesson to Remember: never eat at a place in Italy because they have a good "tourist menu" you can get better for the same price and the tourist menu is fake American food not real Italian food.
