Wandering Around

After the tour we headed into the church that was built by a king to thank god for the fact that his wife finally had a son after 10 years. It is located in the square that people used to avoid as to not have to salute Hitler (sorry I do not have the names of these places, the maps that I have are ridiculously horrible and impossible to read/do not even have the street names. I went to the Information place to get a map and it was 1euro, I past on that and am getting around with the bad one).

Some say that it is an eerie church since it is all white, but I thought it was beautiful.

We headed to the English gardens next. We walked around and found it. We did not find any nude sunbathers, way too cold! I parted with my two roommates and Francais as it was getting late for lunch and my feet were starting to hurt. They were headed through the gardens to the White Rose memorial and I turned around.

I made my way back enjoying my slow pace and finding a wonderful German restaurant for lunch. I ordered 2 Vienna sausages (hoping they would be eatable). They came with potatoes and I ordered a side of sauerkraut. My waitress was shocked when I asked for sauerkraut too and was like “it comes with potatoes!” so I got sauerkraut instead. I snaked on some Bavarian pretzel and waited.

When I got it, it was FOUR sausages and sauerkraut. The kraut was AMAZING, tasted just like my grandmother’s used to. The sausages were just like hotdogs and so I was able to finish about half of my meal before I could eat no more (if there were only two I could have finished my plate!) I walked around for a while more and then met back up with my roommates.

We hung out for a bit and they told me that they had Italian for lunch (it makes me laugh that they are in Germany and they had Indian for dinner and Italian for lunch). After many a hour we headed out in search of a restaurant that was in Lonely planet. We found our way without bringing a map or directions and thought they were closed, but really they were just closing down outside. Usually they have heat lamps and blankets for people but I guess it was past that point. We headed in and found a cozy spot upstairs. What was ordered: pig knuckles, dumplings and egg, and potato pancakes. I tasted a bite of the knuckles, they were seasoned very well but tasted like pig so I was sufficient with my half a fork full. The dumplings were good but not what I was expecting. They were in rectangular shapes and had onions and other stuff mixed in. I took a bite of that (without additional egg) and was satisfied. My potato pancakes were heavier than I expected and the apple sauce was homemade and delicious.

We headed back nice and warm in the cold night. The main street has street performers at night and there is one that caught our eye. They were very good and I was happy that we got a listen. We headed home and had a good night of sleep.
