The Ferry to d'If

After breakfast I decided to buy my ferry ticket to d'If. For whatever reason, I was not thinking to tell her the time that I wanted and so I bought a 10:15 ticket. Only having one minute until the boarding, I got into line and hoped that Jeremy and Gabor would not wait around for me.

Even though it was early, it was hot. Everyone around me had bathing suites on and I wished that I was a bit better prepared. I asked the lady next to me why she only bought a one-way ticket, trying to see if there was another way to get off of the island. She told me that she was meeting her friends for a couple of days on their boat and that she would get a ride back with them.

I was trying to stay in the shade of a tent, while waiting for the ferry, but I had to be careful with where I was. There was a fine mist spraying down to keep people cool, but it was so much that people were getting very wet. Every couple of minutes people would step forward, into more people.

The ferry was 15 minutes late and I was happy to see it arrive as I was just getting into the prime misting zone. I said goodbye to my friend and took baby steps forward with everyone. I got a good seat facing the direction the boat was going on the edge. There was an older couple in front of me with their tiny dog. They asked if I had a hat and were happy when I pulled one out of my bag. The ride there was wonderful. The cool breeze felt nice against my warming skin. We arrived in about 20 minutes.
