Today was my day off. I stayed in bed a bit longer than usual thinking about my trip and where I am and where I thought I would be. I woke up and had some carrot cake for breakfast, it is not very sweet so it worked well. I was going to go to the mill and the next village over, but it looked like rain and was very cold. I spent some time with the chickens and then spent my morning researching the next leg of my trip.
Christian said that the other WWOOFers cancelled and if I would like, I can stay here for a couple of extra nights. Spending 4 euro for a bus ride is a lot cheaper than 50 euro on a hotel. I may take him up on that for the two days that I plan to return to Toulouse.
By noon the sun started to peak through and I decided to have a go at the mill. I had gone a couple of days ago, which means that I did not remember the route to get there. Christian told me to bring his phone number, although without a phone I did not think it was realistic. I would have to ask someone to use their phone in French, a bit strange. I would rather just ask the person for directions. Anyway, I told him I would be fine and grabbed the map to make him happy and was on my way.
As soon as I left, I pulled out the map to find out where the mill was. I saw “Mill Road” and decided to head that way. I could not find my location on the map but that was not a problem as I saw the mill in the distance. I came to Mill Road and continued my walk. There were beautiful houses, a bit bigger than the street by Christian and Fanny. I did not recognize the road but figured I would continue on. I came across a field of sunflowers that were still in bloom and took some pictures to appease those who felt they did not see enough of me within the pictures.
I made it to the part of Mill Road where there was a sign. I am unsure if the sign said “private property, do not enter passed the river” or “private property, do not enter the river.” I decided I should turn back and find another way. I found the road that I had taken to the mill the first time and then followed a sign to the Mill. Even though this road took me out of St. Sulpice, I continued to follow it. I made my way to the long road and got in some shots of the village.
Everything was going according to plan until a savage dog came running up to me barking and growling. I did not mind the barking or the growling, but I minded the barking and growling combined with the showing of teeth. His owner was behind him and yelling at him. Luckily the dog did not touch me but he was getting very close. The owner yelled at the dog, hit his nose, and apologized to me. All I could think to say was Bonjour and au revoir and then I was on my way.
I got to the top and took some more pictures and then just sat for a while. It was such a beautiful view and all you could hear was the wind. I decided to turn back when the clouds covered the sun and I got goose bumps. The clouds were not looking too nice either and I worried that the rain we were supposed to get earlier this morning was on its way.
I headed home to a lunch of Ratatouille.
