Travels to Toulouse Part II

I get off the plane like a pro and go looking for my free shuttle. After asking where to find where to wait and grab a bag of chips to keep my rumbles at bay. They had Lay’s chips…rotisserie chicken and thyme flavored, I had to try it. They were okay and tasted as one would expect with that flavor. After waiting 45 minutes for my every 15 minutes shuttle I ask the information booth again where to go as this time I will take the bus. It was five euros and took me into town.

Someone hit the stop button, thankfully, since it was my stop. I get off the bus and went to find the metro. After standing for about ten minutes in front of the metro map, figuring out where I was and where to go (in the US there is usually a giant star or circle that says, “here you are!” they do not have those here and I wish they did, it would take about 5-10 minutes off of my travels. As soon as I figured everything but which way to enter the station, a woman came to help. She told me what I already knew but I appreciated the help and pretended like I had not already figured it out. She knew the word happy and that was the extent of the English I heard from her. She told me that the people in Toulouse would be happy to talk to me or help me, which is very good to know.

Toulouse seems like a pretty happening spot, lots of people and things to do. Perhaps a cleaner Philadelphia (I am talking the nice parts). I picked a way to walk, thought it was wrong, changed directions, realized that was wrong and was back to the first direction. I was able to find my street with little problems but I started at number 1 and needed to get to 69. Along the way I stopped to get some water and a razor from the supermarket. The security guard there was very kind and held my book bag in the back since you had to check all bags. I wound up picking up some mango water, it was cheap and sounded interesting, plus it had no sugar. Turns out it is fake sugar, no worries. The razors were about $10, no wonder the French are known for not shaving. I skipped that purchase for now.
