We enjoyed the pumpkin, tomato, goat cheese pizza for lunch with a size of green bean, pumpkin, french fry mix. We finished it off with some lemon pie, which Fanny's father enjoyed with us. It was a good meal.
By now the sun had come out and we decided to head to the neighbors to water and pick some items. There were figs, plums, apples, squash, zucchini, chestnuts, hazelnuts, walnuts, cherries, lettuce, and lots more. While Christian figured out how to turn on the hose, Fanny and I headed to the hazelnut tree. I have never picked hazelnuts before and it was quite interesting. The tree produced three or four in a cluster that are covered with almost a bonnet leaf covering the shell. We picked for about five minutes and then headed to the prunes. We gathered about twenty and then were ready for the strawberries. There were only about 10 that were ready so we took what was available and were on our way. The other food was not ready and we had plenty to hold us.
Now that the weather was clear it was time to paint. Christian got things ready and Fanny and I got some gloves. We were doing a first coat of blue for the shutters, as not all of them were painted yet. We did about four shutters front and back and then it was time for dinner.
I would like to take this time to comment on my like of shutters. This may seem stupid to you, but I think that they are so cool Growing up in America, we only know shutters as an ornamental item glued or screwed to the house; but here, here they have a purpose. I spoke to Christian about it and when I told him we do not use shutters he asked how we keep the light out. I told him blinds. He asked what we do when it is hot out, I told him air. Conversation over.
